How to Fake the heavy stitching on Jeans

One of the most common alterations people ask for is shortening jeans. I do have a sneaky trick for this that i’ve shared with you before, but sometimes there is no choice but to rip out the old hem, cut down the length and re-stitch.

This often gives away that you’ve had your jeans altered as it’s tricky to replicate the original stitching. Not only was it stitched with a heavy specialist thread, the colour is often hard to match.

Fear not, you can use a dual thread on the top of the sewing machine to FAKE the look of the professional top stitching.

There’s a much bigger range of colours in normal sewing thread, so you should be able to get a great colour match.

Watch my short video to see how easy this trick is, and discover dual thread stitching…
